A bit of sewing for me...Using McCall's pattern M5433, I created this shirt/tunic out of a nice cotton print.  It has a vintage flair to it that reminds me of my grandfather's shirts, but it has some heft.  It will definitely take me into the fall due to the weight of the cotton. This shirt pattern uses the Palmer/Pletsch method to fit the pattern and I did find that it worked quite well.  The pattern instructions were very well done even giving options for construction.  This would be helpful for a beginner.  I'm pleased how it came out and am looking forward to wearing something that fits.

Kewpie Inspired Dress Up Doll Kits

Image
I created these Kewpie inspired dress up doll kits using denim and felt.  The denim background gives the kit a sturdiness and I embroidered the Kewpie inspired design directly onto the denim.  The clothing was all embroidered on navy felt, which fades into the background.  I used 404 spray on the back of the clothing.  It is repositionable and has worked very well for this project.  To keep the adhesion effective, I used clear vinyl on the backing of the clothing pockets.   These were very time consuming, I did combine all the clothing onto one or two hoops and made about 7 at a time.  I brought them to work and they were scooped up immediately.

My first leather sewing project.  My machine handled it like it was simple cotton.  Many thanks to http://generationsue.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/bow-clutch-tutorial.html
