Elvis is Everywhere

Image
Elvis is everywhere.  As a fan of Elvis, when I saw the Elvis fabric at my local shop, I knew I had to make something interesting.  I had downloaded the Elvis embroidery design years ago and knew this would be a perfect addition to the project. The blocks were sent on an angle to add some movement to the quilt.  The machine embroidery design had over 50,000 stitches per design!  It was time consuming, but so worth the final result. The quilt is available for sale in my Etsy shop:    https://www.etsy.com/shop/duckwells?ref=top_trail

Framed Machine Embroidery Projects

Image
I'm always on the lookout for ways to use my Husqvarna Viking Designer SE.  Since I work full time, there isn't as much sewing and embroidery time as I would like.  Recently my husband asked if I could embroider the saying, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease", a favorite at his work place.   Using an Old English font and a wagon wheel design that I found in my files, I combined the saying with a border using the 4D embroidery software.  A quick run to Michael's for an inexpensive frame and the project was complete. The combination gave an overall impression that it was old-timey, just what I was going for!   Here's another project that I framed.  Unfortunately I don't recall the digitizer, but this project looks great framed.  It is machine embroider cross stitch and I chose a beige background to give it an aged look.   Although I can't find any photos, I've also put holiday embroideries in picture frames that you hang on the Christma

Christmas Stocking Project

Image
This past Christmas I made 15 of the cutest stockings for friends and family.  The stockings were made entirely with my Baby Lock serger except for the embellishments.  This is a quick project and I got the idea from Georgie Melot who was a guest on Sewing with Nancy.  Her book that includes the project is available at:   http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Set-Serge-Projects-Minutes/dp/0896896900 The stockings were so much fun to give out, each had a little trinket inside (or a bottle, depending on the recipient).
